Architectural Panel Systems and Skylights for Construction

University of Minnesota Art-teaching and Research Facility, Minneapolis, MN

For this project we furnished and installed over 30,000 sf of SWISSPEARL composite fiber-cement panels over a 3' deep back-ventilated cavity.  Panels were in two Carat finish type colors, Black Opal 7020 and Onyx 7090.  The panels were sized 60" x 24" high and used color contrasted rivets to attach the panels to aluminum zees.  Panel to panel joint openings (6 mm) were closed with a light gauge black prefinished metal trim.  Behind the 3" back ventilation cavity was a horizontal layer of 3" zees with 2 1/2" inch rigid insulation in the cavity.  Liquid applied vapor barrier on sheathed steel studs or concrete block was by others.

Beal Building Renovation, Duluth, MN

For this project, the Owner wanted to update a brownstone building that had been clad with porcelain enamel panels in a dated color scheme.  The architect recommended SWISSPEARL composite fiber-cement panels because they would give a clean, contemporary look in a reserved manner.  The installing specialty contractor, Lipe Bros., Duluth, installed 2" deep zees and hat channels over the face of the existing metal panels and solidly anchored the hats and zees to the stone substrate.  The nom. 6mm panel to panel joint opening was closed with optional dark gray trim as well as were window openings closed off.
All panels were custom sized and cut to dimensions required at the factory.  Colors were Carat Black Opal 7020 and the uniqe Expressiv finish type in Cement Gray, 5747
